  • A quick peardeck on the topic of gender ... with a blend of pop culture
  • The peardeck will be the "hook" to today's activity . Sorry, Isaiah ,you are going to have to wait and see what happens.   

Wednesday: April 14 

Class Agenda
  • Today's topics is population - here is the presentation I will be going over in class. Be prepared to take the notes 
  • The last slide is about gender ratio. In today's activity you are going to analyze gender, gender roles and stereotypes. 
  • I will be sharing the activity in google classroom 

Monday: April 12

Class Agenda
  • Introduction to the unit summative - hard due day date is April 22 . I will be posting the template today in google classroom . There will be no class time to work on it . Listen to what you need to do. 
  • Today we are going to go to the library and read this article  that connects to the topic of race. You will read about 5 teens who are speaking about race.  
  • When you are done reading you need to pick on their stories, make a copy of it, and you will be creating a black out poem . Ms. Hopkins will walk us through this , maybe you have created one before.  All the materials that you need will be in the library.
  • If you are absent , you can take a picture of the article you selected, upload it onto a google slide and use the highlighter to black out the words .  These are examples of blackout poems #1,  #2,  #3 
  • In the end you are creating a powerful statement about the topic. 
Thursday : April 8

  • How knowledgeable are you about diversity?  Take this "survey" to see where you stand. 
  • What groups are included in diversity?  How does this commercial do in regards to showing diversity ?  
  • Behind every number there is a story. This video tells the story of LatinWorks, one of the most successful multicultural ad agencies in the nation. Learn how they are appealing to younger generations.  Click here to watch the video .  The exit slip will be a takeaway on what you learned and how it applies to the topic of diversity. (response)
  • If time allows we are going to explore diversity here at school.

    • create a list of all lead actors/actress that are not caucasian 
    • create a list of all movies/shows/series that is has a cast of mostly non caucasian actors/actresses
